Three writers chosen for third annual Winterhouse Awards for Design Writing & Criticism: The jury selected three instead of two for the 2008 awards, to be presented at the Design Legends Gala. David Barringer will receive the Writing Award, while Annie Simpson and Joshua Yaffa will both receive Education Awards.
Ballot design gains national attention, enabled by AIGA advocacy efforts: AIGA has been working behind the scenes to bring ballot design to the national consciousness. On July 21, the front pages of The New York Times and USA Today featured ballot design, and during the prior week, AIGA Design for Democracy counseled election officials on improving their ballots.
Get Out the Vote posters will be on view during the national conventions: Thousands of visitors, politicians and reporters will see a selection of Get Out the Vote posters when they are displayed at the Denver Art Museum and Walker Art Center during the two national conventions. This nonpartisan AIGA initiative encourages the American public to vote in November.
